Mint Management Technologies attended Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, Spain

Johannesburg, 19 Mar 2013

Mint Management Technonogies, "Mint", has once again gone the extra mile to ensure it remains at the top of mobile technology innovation and new applications of connected technology, by attending the recent New Mobile Horizon at the Mobile World Congress, held in Barcelona, Spain from 24 to 28 February.

"Mint is exceptionally proud to have been part of the more than 72 000 attendees which represented over 200 countries at this year's event," said Carel du Toit, managing director of Mint. The event, which ran over four days, hosted more than 40 conference sessions with keynote speakers from mobile operators, myriad organisations and industries touched by the mobile market, telecommunication giants and a host of software development houses.

"The aim of attending the conference was to network with leading international mobile specialists and to get a feel for the exciting and new devices, back-end solutions, applications and technologies on the mobile horizon. In addition to this, Mint wanted to test the waters about our exciting new mobile platform, which is soon to be launched, firstly in South Africa, and then on an international basis, and to network with some of the other experts in mobility," added Trevor Ahier, Mint's Chairman.

The Mobile World Congress attracts the cream of the crop when it comes to mobile technology and industry players and senior mobile professionals, and as Microsoft South Africa's reigning Mobility Solutions Partner of the Year, Mint felt it imperative to keep abreast of what the other world-leading mobility experts have in store. "South African businesses have certainly begun to embrace mobility as an integral part of business value, but there is still a lot to learn about next-generation mobility services," said Du Toit. "Mobility is not just about being able to work when away from the office, but is also about the way the business connects, how to mobilise all aspects of the business - not only sales and field force staff. It is equally important for organisations to understand that 'online' capabilities are only half of the solution. The wheels of business simply cannot grind to a halt if network coverage, for example, isn't optimal. The option to switch to 'offline' capabilities is indeed paramount to ensure that the business continues regardless of network coverage.

Mint will be launching an exciting new mobility platform in the latter part of 2013, which addresses the issue raised by many South African organisations of how to mobilise an organisation's current line of business systems and how to get these systems to connect with each other, without the potential high costs of either replacing or upgrading the current solutions or investing in more skilled IT staff to manage this complexity.

"Mint supports the philosophy of forging long-term relationships with our customers and part of that relationship is sharing our experiences, information gleaned about international trends and lessons learnt by attending conferences such as Mobile World Congress 2013. By building a product or solution road-map with our customers, both parties can effectively plan for the future solution requirements. This adds significantly to the value proposition we give our key stakeholders," adds Ahier.
