MTN CFO resigns

MTN has announced the resignation of its CFO, Nazir Patel. The telecoms giant has announced this in a statement, saying Patel's resignation is with immediate effect.

According to the statement Patel chose not to continue working for MTN in light of an ongoing investigation into allegations made against him by the company. The company did not elaborate on the details of the allegations.

Brett Goschen has been appointed as CFO and executive financial director on the board, with immediate effect.

Goschen joined MTN as the CFO of MTN Nigeria in 2002. He was appointed CFO of MTN Ghana in 2006 and returned to MTN Nigeria as CEO in 2011.

"The board is confident that Mr Goschen has the appropriate expertise and experience for his new role," says the statement.
