Accenture and Oracle have entered a multi-year, strategic initiative to bring Oracle Engineered systems to clients more quickly and cost-effectively.

"Accenture has created a set of solutions incorporating Oracle Engineered systems into Accenture's data centre transformation consulting and outsourcing services," notes Accenture.

According to Accenture, these solutions allow clients to ready their data centres to manage, process and analyse huge volumes of data, while reducing total cost of data centre ownership through significant consolidation of servers, storage and networking components.

Accenture has formed a team of more than 300 consultants to help simplify solution implementation, increase productivity and improve the stability of data centres, the company says. This team will be supported by Oracle enterprise architects and Oracle Engineered systems engineers, who will deliver and support the solutions while accelerating time to value for clients and reducing deployment risk.

According to Marty Cole, group chief executive for Accenture's technology growth platform, this is a major step forward for Accenture and Oracle clients. "We are seeing an increasing number of clients recognising the value of virtualising their databases and taking advantage of the cost and performance benefits delivered by these solutions," says Cole.

"Our job is to help our customers simplify their IT and use technology to drive business innovation," says Oracle president, Mark Hurd. "Collaboration between Oracle and Accenture allows our organisations to work even more effectively with customers towards these objectives."

"Before making a significant investment, clients can test their workloads on Oracle Engineered systems to get a picture of how a similar set-up can accelerate their enterprise applications and strengthen analytic capabilities for performance and business benefit," Accenture concludes.
