Samsung SA has unveiled its first mono laser printer, the ProXpress M4020, and multifunction printer, the ProXpress M4070, series for the SME market.

The electronics company says the mono laser printers will drive productivity for SMEs, offering cost-effective printing, while placing high value on infrastructure efficiency.

It adds that the series is equipped with Samsung's Web-based open platform architecture, extensible open architecture (XOA Web), a 4.3-inch colour touch-screen, 1GHz dual-core CPU, 1GB memory, and scan-to-cloud and security enhanced functions.

According to Samsung, these units also support 4GB SD cards and use extra-high-yield toner that allows users to increase work productivity while keeping costs down.

"Samsung has released XOA Web to expand the number of devices from low-end A4 laser printers to high-end A3 MFPs that are compatible with various B2B solutions," says Mike van Lier, business unit leader for enterprise business at Samsung SA.

"We are continuously looking for opportunities to broaden the solution offering and the availability of products that support XOA. Samsung is, therefore, strengthening its position in business markets to assist enterprises, channel partners and independent software vendors to utilise, sell and develop customised solutions."

The extra-high-yield toner prints up to 15 000 pages and reduces the cost per page. The environmentally friendly eco-driver further reduces energy consumption by up to 20%, says Samsung.

Samsung's ProXpress M4020 and M4070 can deliver up to 40 pages per minute, at a resolution of 1200 x 600 optical dpi, which is twice that of competitors' at 600 x 600 optical dpi, says the company.
