Business Connexion (BCX) is reorganising itself in a bid to accelerate its international growth plans and speed up entry into new African markets. It also plans to look to other emerging geographies.

The group will change its executive leadership team and create a new group structure to "support the delivery of sustainable growth with greater agility and efficiency". Over the coming months, the current business units will be organised into "agile" entities, clustered into three divisions:

* Converged Infrastructure Solutions
* Business Solutions
* Investments and Alliances

Executive teams for these divisions will be announced in due course and minimal changes to current operational teams are expected.

Deputy CEO Vanessa Olver, who will head up a strategic office that aims to aid expansion, explains the process should be complete by the end of August, which is when its financial year ends.

Olver says there will be benefits for BCX in that silos will be removed, creating the opportunity for previously different units to cross-sell, and giving customers a clearer view of the entity. It will also speed up its international aims, and aid the company in boosting revenue from operations outside of SA to 30%, she notes.

Its international operations accounted for R532.3 million of its R6.2 billion revenue for the year to August. CEO Benjamin Mophatlane has said the listed company is looking for acquisition opportunities, especially in Nigeria.

Olver says, while Africa is its primary objective, it also wants to support clients in other emerging markets, such as Latin America and the Middle East. BCX already has two clients in Dubai.

BCX is now fast-tracking its entry into Ghana and Ethiopia through the structure, adds Olver. She says the new model "supports collaboration, builds a culture of continuous improvement and a standard approach to business performance management".

Mophatlane adds: "It's through the hard work of our people, excellent service delivery, the support of our clients and a number of strategic acquisitions, that Business Connexion has achieved great success in the African marketplace.

"We realise that in order to continue to grow, we need to do more. We are investing in a global engagement structure with a key customer focus and global service delivery model."
