IER has selected Printers and Parts Direct as its certified repair partner for South Africa and surrounding countries

IER - the world leading ticket printer manufacturer, based in France - has selected Printers and Parts Direct as its certified warranty and out of warranty repair centre for South Africa and the surrounding countries.

Johannesburg, 09 Sep 2008

IER is a world-leading designer and manufacturer of ticketing printers, self-service kiosks, boarding control solutions and access control equipment for the major transportation networks and is also a major player in automated interactive transaction kiosks and specific printers for local governmental agencies and large accounts.

IER, in order to provide a local-based after-sale support to its customers has selected Printers and Parts Direct as its certified repair centre for South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Angola, Malawi, Lesotho and Swaziland.

As the soccer world cup event will take place in South Africa in 2010, the South African transportation industry is expected to grow and require new equipment and local customer services.

"The careful selection of Printers and Parts Direct was very strategic," says Jean-Christophe Court, Operations Manager at IER France, "as not only are Printers and Parts Direct located 1km from OR Tambo Airport, but they are also a company focused on repair and re-manufacture of very specialised products. This uniqueness, coupled with their highly skilled spare parts management and distribution process, is what sets Printers and Parts Direct way apart from their closest opposition."

Printers and Parts Direct engineers have had extensive training from IER and add this knowledge to their existing knowledge of the wide range of other printers that are repaired on behalf of the dealer channel.

Jean-Luc Rauline, IER Regional VP, says: "IER is in the process of adding new innovative solutions to its existing product range. IER is now proposing an MMS-based mobile boarding pass.

"A unique 2D bar code will be sent to your cellphone, which you will save. You will then use this bar code picture on your phone to scan through an IER reader once in the airport, to obtain your boarding pass. Very clever and unique technology backed up by Printers and Parts Direct."

"We are proud to be the chosen service provider for such a large international company as IER," says Business Development Director, Neil Van Vuuren. " It is our teamwork and dedication to this sector of the industry, coupled with over 20 years' collective experience, that enables us to satisfy IER and our wide range of other customers throughout South Africa, Africa, Mauritius, Madagascar and the Seychelles."

Printers and Parts Direct also specialises in OEM distribution and sales of HP parts, OKI parts, Lexmark parts, Konica Minolta parts and Brother parts. However, the large range of over 500 line items of IER parts will not be available for sale through this sales channel. Due to the high level of technical repair expertise required, all IER printers need to be sent in to the Gauteng-based workshop of Printers and Parts Direct to be repaired. Printers and Parts Direct is the only company in South Africa that stocks new OEM IER printer parts.
