First Technology appoints Cape Town MD

Johannesburg, 05 Aug 2004

Independent IT solutions provider First Technology has appointed Tinus Lamprecht as managing director of its Cape Town branch. "First Technology`s work ethic and business principles are of the highest standard.

"My challenge will be to maintain these high standards and build on them to grow the business even further," he says.

Prior to joining First Technology, Lamprecht owned his own IT company, Belfry Systems, which focused mainly on IBM and Cisco products.

With the hype around IT in the late 1990s reaching fever-pitch, Lamprecht performed a reverse listing on the JSE Securities Exchange with a number of other companies as Imphold. The JSE listing name was changed to I-Fusion, which was later taken over by Bidvest and de-listed.

Lamprecht`s management style is participative, with everyone in the company assisting in their specific area and skills.

"By no means do I manage by opinion poll, but by strong leadership and by example. I enjoy being at the coalface with my staff. All staff is empowered to take ownership of their challenges. It is important for my staff at all levels to believe in themselves and to know that management believes in their abilities and respects them for such. Management is there to help everyone reach the highest levels we all strive for," Lamprecht continues.

During his spare time, the new Cape Town MD enjoys music, photography and collecting fine red wine. He has also completed four Cape Argus Cycle Tours, finishing this year`s race in four hours and 26 minutes.

He completed a degree in Accounting and Economics through Unisa in 1985, and has an MBA degree from the Business School of the University of Stellenbosch.

"Understanding business principles and the business needs of our clients will assist us to offer better solutions to our customers. It is important to understand the needs of our customers as well as that of their customers. Products have become commodities and can be purchased anywhere - even on the Web. It is the services and added value provided with such products that makes us important to our customers.

"I firmly believe First Technology has the ideal product set to assist customers in every possible way. In addition, the company`s focus on its key vertical markets will ensure we continue to grow," he concludes.
