AVeS provides clients with 'confidence in information security'

Information security provider AVeS is undergoing a full rebrand as part of the company's plans for expansion in 2012.

Johannesburg, 08 Feb 2012

Having already established a reputation for being a market-leading provider of anti-virus and back-up products across southern Africa, AVeS plans to consolidate on that success moving forward by providing a full and comprehensive services role in information security for its broad range of clients.

AVeS managing director Charl Ueckermann notes that the company has launched its new slogan, 'confidence in information security', to provide clients with the peace of mind that the company is able to deliver a holistic, value-adding service that caters to all IT-related security requirements. “While our traditional business model has resulted in measurable success, AVeS will be looking at expanding its services portfolio in an ever-changing business environment, by increasing our focus on information security as a service.”

In terms of information security, Ueckermann highlights the fact that the biggest challenge facing companies is the complexity of security products and services to choose from. “The threat landscape in the information security domain has expanded so quickly over the last few years, that many companies are completely unaware of or do not understand the options available to them. As a matter of fact, companies actually just want to get on with business, and do not have the appetite to think of these risks.”

Ueckermann points out that the 'AVeS-Way' is to add value to its clients by providing a professional services bundle, which includes the assessment of risk, providing recommendations to reduce cost and implementing measures to maximise current information security investments. “Establishing an individual risk profile, planning a roadmap and carefully implementing the best-of-breed products are the only way to keep costs under control and manage risk at the same time.”

Due to the fact that exploiting tools can be acquired online nowadays, clients are even more vulnerable to a security breach. “The threat of cyber attack can come from sources such as e-mail accounts, Web sites and external hardware sources such as flash disks or even smartphones. Furthermore, cyber criminals will also use major news events to distribute malware, by e-mailing photos, or video streaming of the event with malware embedded in the content.”

The current growth of data in companies is approximately 60% per annum, and it is becoming more unstructured. “The amount of data that needs to be stored and processed is becoming more complex by the day. A large number of businesses, however, are not increasing their IT budgets accordingly, which creates future challenges. The obvious move is to migrate to a virtualised environment as well as utilising best-of-breed technologies such as de-duplication and cloud solutions to reduce the amount of data to be stored.

Looking to the future, Ueckermann is confident about the growth of AVeS, following an overwhelmingly positive response from its clients with regards to the company's rebranding. “AVeS clients have expressed their full support for the company's plans to expand its services portfolio to include cloud security, virtualisation, disaster recovery and compliance. AVeS is passionate about customer service and has a strong focus on maintaining long-term relationships with its clients; our ultimate goal is to be recognised by our clients as their trusted advisor. With customers having displayed their confidence in AVeS to provide a full range of comprehensive and cost-effective professional services, I am optimistic about the expanded value that we will provide to our clients,” he concludes.
