Without the orderly flow of data and documents, business managers have very little control over the accessibility of information throughout a local or extended environment.
"This results in precious process time being lost while staff search for relevant documents that either support a workflow process or corroborate pertinent information," explains Jan Potgieter, director of the Optimisation division at Datacentrix.
Datacentrix` Optimisation division addresses these issues, both in the SAP R/3 arena as well as other platforms.
The division provides solutions for fully integrated document management systems based on XML technologies and for the archiving of groupware "information stores", Lotus Notes and Microsoft`s Exchange server.
Says Potgieter: "The solutions offered by the Optimisation division are based on products developed by IXOS Software AG, provider of software solutions for the management of business documents in and outside of the R/3 environment."
Based in Munich, IXOS and SAP co-developed the R/3 ArchiveLink interface and the Internet Transaction Server (ITS). This led to the development of the Business Document Management (BDM) product of choice for the SAP R/3 system.
Says Potgieter: "The IXOS product solution not only tightly integrates with the SAP R/3 business modules, it also allows the paperless management of all SAP R/3 organisational documents. In addition, it can cross integrate line-of-business and legacy systems within SAP R/3 and has the ability to archive and retrieve data and documents from both mainframe and open systems."
