Datacentrix strengthens service delivery capability

Johannesburg, 08 May 2002

As part of fine-tuning its focus on growing its service capability with the recent announcement of a standalone Services division, Datacentrix has appointed Stewart Barker as Managing Director of Datacentrix Services.

Barker, who joined the Datacentrix group in 2000, was until recently the CEO of the e-business subsidiary Commerce Centre. Commerce Centre has been integrated into the Datacentrix Group and renamed as Datacentrix Solutions.

"Historically, Datacentrix has been product-led with customers receiving services to support their products purchased," explains Barker. "Our new focus is to expand our service offering to existing clients to become their single most valued IT partner, and bring new customers into the group, leading with services."

According to Barker, the Datacentrix Services division will be able to leverage off relationships with these existing clients, while also reaching new market segments not currently serviced by the organisation`s Solutions and Infrastructure divisions.

"Datacentrix has an established presence in the hardware and software sectors - showing a solid year-on-year growth rate for the past four years, with turnover increasing by 59% in 2001 alone. Considering these factors, it makes sense for Datacentrix to proactively enter the broader services market-space and become the quality IT partner of choice."

"Management is confident that Barker will provide the expertise to make this transition," adds Gary Morolo, Executive Chairman of the Datacentrix group.

Datacentrix Services division boasts a number of the highest industry accreditations including: HP Authorised Service Provider (Gold Status); Compaq Authorised Service Provider (Gold Status); and IBM Authorised Service Provider. The division is also a Microsoft Certified Gold Partner, Novell Business Expert, Enterasys Business Partner, Cisco Business Partner, Citrix Silver Partner and Symantec Enterprise Solutions Partner. Current clients include SAB, British American Tobacco, Premier Foods, Medihelp, Iscor, Statistics SA, Tshwane Metropolitan Council, Toyota, Auditor General, IEC, Citadel, Post Office, Alliance Capital, Foodcorp, Aventura, IDC and Kumba Resources.
