IXOS SOFTWARE AG, represented in South Africa by Datacentrix, has announced that it has entered into a technology agreement with EMC to integrate IXOS-eCON Solution Suite products with the recently introduced EMC Centera content addressed storage (CAS) solution.
EMC Centera represents an entirely new software-driven storage architecture that addresses the information storage requirements of long-term, unchanging digital objects - or "fixed content" - such as ERP/CRM system data and documents, e-mail and attachments.
"Today`s groupware, ERP and CRM systems are not capable of keeping large quantities of e-mail, data and documents for extended times," explains Rob Shaw, product marketing manager at Datacentrix. "This is where the combined EMC/IXOS solution benefits both IT department and the users of the application. "It provides customers with a secure, scalable, and easy-to-manage repository for large SAP, Siebel, Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Notes deployments, retaining access to archived e-mails, data and documents without limiting their productivity.
"Customers also benefit from assured data longevity, content authenticity and faster access to stored data, all from an affordable storage solution," he says.
