Users of the latest version of IXOS-eCONtext for SAP 5.0 can now search for and view SAP documents without having a permanent connection to the SAP server or to the business document system. The new version, available through local IXOS Software representative, Datacentrix, also offers full-text searches, automatic indexing of ODMA documents such as Word and Excel files and enhanced usability.
The IXOS-Ixtractor module extracts data and documents from the SAP system and stores it on the local computer. Using a Web browser application, users of IXOS-eCONtext for SAP 5.0 can now access this information whether working from home or in transit.
"Employees need fast access to SAP data and accompanying documents to complete work processes such as invoice or order processing promptly," explains Rob Shaw, product marketing manager at Datacentrix. "Regardless of whether these are delivery notes, invoices, CRM documents or host data, IXOS-eCONtext for SAP enables efficient management and search capabilities of any information within the SAP infrastructure.
"The document system displays all data and documents in a process view, across all modules (for processes that involve several modules, for example, FI / Finance and SD / Sales & Distribution) and even for processes involving several SAP systems. For example, the entire SD document flow, from order to invoice can be displayed by IXOS-eCONtext for SAP," he says.
By navigating a hierarchical folder structure, doing an attribute search or using the new full-text search, users can quickly locate specific data and documents. They can also link documents directly to SAP business objects such as FI documents and later use these to retrieve the documents.
SAP AG has already certified IXOS-eCONtext for SAP 5.0 for the latest version of SAP ArchiveLink. This certificate from SAP vouches that this new version of the business document system supports the full functionality of the ArchiveLink interface of SAP R/3 4.6c as well as the mySAP solution.
IXOS-eCONtext for SAP is a component of the IXOS-eCON Solution Suite, which provides complete document management functionality and expedites business processes both within a company and between a company and its business partners.
