The Liberty Group has renewed its Sterling Commerce CONNECT:Direct contract with Datacentrix, exclusive South African partner for Sterling Commerce. This renewable agreement covers the use of CONNECT: Direct within the organisation over the next three years and also encompasses all maintenance and support for the duration of the contract. "
Liberty has been a long-time Datacentrix customer and user of the CONNECT: Direct offering," says Deman Marx, account manager at Datacentrix. "One of the greatest benefits the company has seen from this product is assured information delivery, as well as high-volume and secure data exchange. This is particularly important with the critical data transfers taking place between Liberty and Standard Corporate Merchant Bank (SCMB)."
According to Marx, the product`s features contribute towards improved network utilisation and management of data delivery. These include compression, error recovery and priority transfers. The product also provides a scheduling facility, which allows for batch processing to be done during quieter periods, such as overnight.
"By using CONNECT: Direct, our 'data transfer/exchange` operations can practically run unattended 24X7," explains Bali Ebrahim, Head of Department: Enterprise Server Support and Operations at Liberty. "Not only are we using a reliable, stable product, but our strong relationship with Datacentrix has also contributed to the success of this project."
