Anglovaal Industries (AVI) food brands company, Irvin & Johnson (I&J) has completed a scanning project using IXOS Software AG`s eCONserver, done in conjunction with Datacentrix, the sole IXOS representative in southern Africa.
I&J`s implementation of the SAP R/3 Sales and Distribution (SD) module led to its discovery that rolling out an archiving solution was critical at this time. The result was the company`s decision to use the eCONserver product, which provides a platform for the corporate-wide management of data and documents.
According to John van der Hoeven, Front Office Competency Leader: Avision, Anglovaal`s in-house IT department, the organisation elected to use eCONserver on SAP`s recommendation. "At a recent SAPPHIRE conference, we established that Datacentrix is a strong SAP partner, critical in terms of our ongoing SAP implementation. SAP`s recommendation, as well as regular product upgrades and updates, assured us that IXOS` eCONserver was the ideal solution.
"During the execution of our eCONserver archiving project, we also established that the IXOS scanning module for scanning proof of delivery (POD) documents was vital to this roll-out. Based on this, we took the decision to complete the scanning project before continuing with the archiving solution implementation," he explains.

The scanning capabilities have been rolled out to a number of I&J offices countrywide, granting faster access to entries within the organisation`s R300 million debtors book, as well as to Vector Logistics, sister Anglovaal Industries company, previously I&J`s Customer Division.
"Our employees are already seeing the benefits of faster, more effective scanning, indexing and retrieval," Van der Hoeven concludes.
