Datacentrix signs ADIC maintenance agreement

Johannesburg, 01 Apr 2003

Datacentrix has entered into a maintenance support agreement (MSA) with international partner, Advanced Digital Information Corporation (ADIC), allowing the local IT infrastructure and solutions provider to design, install and maintain ADIC`s enterprise libraries and software solutions.

"Datacentrix is one of our two South African e-VARs, our highest level of reseller accreditation, and the only one to have ADIC software solution certifications," says Anton van Boven, product support manager: Middle East and Africa at ADIC. "Our new agreement with them will allow them to not only sell our libraries, but also to maintain them, hold spares and offer customers different levels of support."

The MSA will enable Datacentrix to "uplift" the warranty agreements provided with the libraries to ensure that proper maintenance and timely part replacements can be made. This means that local ADIC users can rely on a four-hour on-site response service 24x7, ADIC`s highest level on on-site service, designed to cater for mission-critical systems.

"Storage is a critical area for most companies," explains Bertus Homan, divisional director at Datacentrix. "By entering into this MSA with ADIC, we can quickly attend to customers across the country at any time of the day.

"This is significant as many businesses run their backups overnight, so if something were to go wrong, it would happen after normal business hours, meaning that not only would they not be able to back up data but, more importantly, they would not be able to recover documents or access archived files.

"Our service process is greatly accelerated by holding spares, eliminating the time taken to order and ship parts from overseas," Homan adds. ADIC`s other on-site support options include next-day service and a four-hour response service, which runs from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am to 5pm.

"We are pleased to have enhanced our relationship with Datacentrix even further, allowing us to greatly improve service levels for South African customers," Van Boven concludes.
