IT solutions and infrastructure provider, Datacentrix has kicked off an archiving project with local power utility, Eskom, using the IXOS eCON Solution suite. Datacentrix is the sole South African IXOS Software AG representative.
The project involves Eskom`s Corporate, Generation, Distribution and Transmission divisions and will help the organisation to better manage its vast data stores.
"As the core of the IXOS product portfolio, the IXOS-eCON Solution Suite securely and reliably manages business documents," explains John Ansell, senior account manager at Datacentrix. "It can be seamlessly integrated into virtually all systems, a factor of great importance to Eskom because of its use of SAP R/3 software."
Ansell cites IXOS`s large market share in the document management arena as one of the pivotal factors in Eskom`s product selection. "Not only this, but IXOS is also a key SAP partner worldwide. In fact, the company was recently named as a recipient of SAP AG`s Pinnacle Awards.
"In addition, last year saw SAP name Datacentrix as a Special Expertise Service Partner for archiving specifically. We have also enjoyed a lengthy relationship with Eskom, having partnered with the company for the last 12 years."
Long-term plans for Eskom incorporate additional projects, including document scanning for the Finance and Human Resources divisions using the IXOS eCON Solution suite.
