Datacentrix introduces new Sterling Commerce Connect:Direct information dashboard

Johannesburg, 29 Jul 2003

Sterling Commerce has announced Connect Control Center, a new product designed to offer end-users an easy method of monitoring and managing the activity of Sterling Commerce data integration applications. Sterling Commerce products are available in SA through IT infrastructure and solutions provider, Datacentrix.

A centralised management system that powers business activity monitoring (BAM) functionality across an entire enterprise, Connect Control Center offers administrative control to customers with multiple instances of Connect:Direct, a peer-to-peer data integration application.

"In today`s business environment, effectively managing the risk and costs related to key business activities is becoming increasingly important," says Johan Dippenaar, product manager at Datacentrix. "Connect Control Center enables enterprises to become effective in managing their risks and costs by providing real-time visibility and comprehensive control of major business activities related to their data delivery infrastructure. It provides the ability to detect and mitigate risks before they turn into serious business problems."

From Connect Control Center`s command and control dashboard, users gain insight into the operations of an entire network of Connect:Direct servers. Data delivery activities that are not in compliance with predefined service level criteria are visually flagged for attention. Users may specify business rules for generating alerts related to key operational events that require attention.

"The ability to know about and act upon situations that may impact downstream operations can save enterprises real rands in processing costs and financial penalties for failure to meet service level or regulatory requirements," he adds.

Connect Control Center captures comprehensive operational metrics and audit data on file transfers throughout the Connect:Direct network. Users can create customisable reports to measure the effectiveness of their business operations. Information is available to analyse throughput and performance, frequency of exceptions and security-related events. The reporting also enables users to do capacity planning as their business grows and their data integration infrastructure evolves.

Future releases of Connect Control Center will include the dashboard data communication monitoring capabilities for Connect:Enterprise, a B2B data integration application from Sterling Commerce that manages information flow across extended business communities.
