Datacentrix appointed sole ADIC EVAR

Johannesburg, 05 Aug 2003

ADIC (Advanced Digital Information Corporation) South Africa has announced that IT infrastructure and solutions provider, Datacentrix, has been named the sole ADIC direct EVAR (enterprise value-added reseller) for ADIC`s enterprise storage range in SA.

Christo Briedenhann, territory manager, Middle East and Africa at ADIC, says the move was a strategic one. "Datacentrix is one of the fastest growing IT companies in the country and is also a prominent BEE player in the storage market. The company has extensive experience in all areas of storage, including disk and SAN which has always been a focal point for ADIC.

"Over the last few years, Datacentrix has developed a direct focus on ADIC product and the staff at the company are well trained in selling, installing and maintaining the product," he adds. "This was a very important factor to consider when making the decision. We wanted to be sure that our enterprise customers had a partner on whom they could depend."

Briedenhann says that, in addition, the appointment of Datacentrix as the sole direct EVAR enables ADIC to clarify its channel strategy. "We want to offer our end-users one resource. They will now know exactly where to go for information, sales, support and maintenance."

Bertus Homan, ADIC product manager at Datacentrix, concurs, saying that too often the channel is left in a state of confusion due to incorrect information being distributed. "This announcement effectively means that Datacentrix will handle the entire ADIC enterprise range," he says.

"We`ve had years of experience dealing with ADIC and value the way the company deals with its end-users, especially as it`s so similar to the way we do business," he says.

"We believe there is a huge drive among our customers for backup consolidation which allows for faster, lower cost, more reliable and centralised backup," says Homan. "We already deliver solutions as well as the mission-critical services that go with it and, through this agreement, we can now provide the ADIC range as a natural extension of our enterprise systems offering."
