Sterling Commerce listed in Gartner Leader Quadrant

Johannesburg, 29 Jul 2004

Sterling Commerce, a provider of business integration solutions, has announced its listing in the leader quadrant in Gartner`s Application Integration 2004 Magic Quadrant.

The highly rated analysis of the top vendors in the application integration and middleware market identified 23 active vendors in the space and compared their vision and ability to execute with customers. IT infrastructure and solutions provider, Datacentrix, is the sole distributor for Sterling Commerce in SA.

Vendors in the Leaders Quadrant earn high revenues in the particular market, have a high market share and offer products that are of interest to a wide audience. According to Gartner, leaders are currently performing well, have a clear vision of market direction and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market.

In considering organisations for inclusion in the Magic Quadrant, Gartner took into account a broad mix of application integration industry requirements, including business-to-business and internal application integration scenarios such as data consistency, multi-step processing and composite applications. To be listed in the Leader Quadrant, vendors had to meet multiple criteria, such as corporate viability, including a strong management team and financial health, as well as their market presence and product`s efficacy.

"The `Leader` quadrant position in Gartner`s Application Integration Magic Quadrant represents the recognition of the specific expertise, capabilities and significant market progression Sterling Commerce has made to meet the needs of its customers and to help them effectively manage business process integration across the enterprise and to their business communities," says Johan Dippenaar, product manager at Datacentrix.

In addition, Sterling Commerce received an overall "Positive" rating in the "Vendor Rating: Sterling Commerce" report issued by Gartner on 4 May 2004. Gartner`s vendor rating reports provide end-user organisations with an evaluation of vendors from which they can purchase products and services.
