Datacentrix unveils Princeton Softech Relational Tools V 5.3 for SA users

Johannesburg, 11 Feb 2005

Database archiving and test data management company, Princeton Softech, has announced the general availability of Relational Tools V 5.3. This release offers new performance options, enhanced de-identification capabilities and support for IBM DB2 V8.

Relational Tools provides comprehensive test data management capabilities that improve testing and quality assurance throughout the application development lifecycle. These expanded capabilities further enhance reliability and lower the total cost of ownership (TCO) of CRM, ERP and other mission-critical applications.

Princeton Softech solutions are available locally through IT infrastructure and solutions provider, Datacentrix, an authorised southern African distribution partner.

Release 5.3 provides additional de-identification capabilities that allow companies to comply with data privacy regulations. Relational Tools Column Maps simplify the process of transforming or masking column values to de-identify test data, while maintaining the referential integrity of the data. In addition, this release adds the Lookup function, which can be used to derive the transformed value, based on a source column, both stored in a predefined table. For example, this capability can be used to mask medical diagnostic codes for application testing purposes.

"Data privacy regulations are becoming a reality and organisations need to put policies in place to comply with it," says Alan Kuun, Datacentrix product manager for the Princeton Softech product suite. "These regulations require that sensitive data be protected throughout the application development lifecycle. Release 5.3 provides advanced capabilities to de-identify data. As a result, companies can use realistic data for accurate testing, while supporting data privacy compliance initiatives."

Relational Tools allows companies to extract precise subsets of related data from a production database to create a streamlined realistic test data environment. Release 5.3 offers new options that help to improve Extract processing performance, including key lookup and table scan options, as well as other processing options.

"Application testing is critical to delivering accurate and reliable applications," says Kuun. "Relational Tools not only delivers sophisticated capabilities for extract processing, but also allows companies to develop targeted test scenarios and to compare test results with improved speed and accuracy. Companies can ensure application quality and speed time to market, while lowering the TCO."
