Land Bank upgrades IT infrastructure with Datacentrix

Johannesburg, 08 Mar 2005

Local agricultural financier, the Land and Agricultural Development Bank of South Africa (Land Bank), has rolled out new HP desktops, servers, laptops and printers to 28 sites nationwide with IT infrastructure and solutions provider, Datacentrix.

Since inception 1912, Land Bank has provided established and emerging farmers with tailor-made financial services.

Early last year, the bank decided it needed technology partners with strong black economic empowerment (BEE) credentials and a strong business model.

According to Johannes Singwane, IT operations manager at Land Bank, the combination of Datacentrix`s high-level role within this black empowerment domain and HP`s commitment to SA and a serious transformation agenda, provided an ideal partnership opportunity for the bank.

"For Datacentrix, empowerment encompasses the elimination of unfair discrimination, creation of equal opportunity for all and appreciation for diversity," explains Mpume Dywili, business unit manager at Datacentrix. "This proactive stance on tackling economic empowerment is how we earned our `A` rating for its empowerment credentials from Empowerdex, an independent research and rating agency."

As HP`s largest partner in SA, Datacentrix`s offerings include key technology components of enterprise IT infrastructure such as enterprise storage, servers, management software, printing and imaging solutions together with a comprehensive portfolio of related services.

In terms of the Land Bank project, Datacentrix implemented 34 servers, 494 PCs, 200 printers and 28 notebooks at the bank`s national branches and has also undertaken to provide maintenance on the equipment for the next three years. Says Dywili: "Longstanding, quality relationships with key technology partners are an important part of Datacentrix`s success in the local marketplace."
