IT infrastructure, solutions and services provider, Datacentrix, is one of the first local VMware resellers to gain technical certification status for the VMware Enterprise Virtualisation product range.

The VMware certification entails technical training and a stringent certification process to achieve reseller status. Grant Mufford, VMware Product Manager at Workgroup, notes that Datacentrix achieved certification for the flagship product, namely VMware ESX Server, enabling the organisation to provide a complete VMware consulting, installation and support offering.
VMware ESX Server is virtual infrastructure software for partitioning, consolidating and managing systems in mission-critical environments. ESX Server and VMware Virtual Infrastructure Nodes provide a highly scalable virtual machine platform with advanced resource management capabilities, which can be managed by VMware VirtualCenter.
"VMware is ideally suited for enterprise data centres," says Buhrmann. "ESX Server minimises the total cost of ownership (TCO) of computing infrastructure by increasing resource utilisation, minimising maintenance downtime and maximising server manageability."

ESX Server consolidates branch office and data centre mission-critical applications and infrastructure services such as Exchange, SQL Server, Notes and Oracle, running on diverse operating systems onto fewer highly scalable, reliable enterprise-class servers, including blade servers.

VMware Virtual Infrastructure Nodes (comprising ESX Server, VMware Virtual SMP, VMotion and a VirtualCenter Agent) can be deployed and managed with VMware VirtualCenter to transform IT infrastructure into virtual infrastructure.
