IT infrastructure, solutions and services provider, Datacentrix, has upgraded Investec Asset Management`s processing and storage infrastructure providing a comprehensive and scalable solution geared to address the financial services firm`s growing needs.
Wendy Blakeway, account manager at Datacentrix, took responsibility for the implementation from briefing, where the company took Investec Asset Management decision-makers through demonstrations on the products, through to the full installation, configuration and commission of the requested hardware.
"Investec Asset Management needed an end-to-end integrated solution delivering enhanced performance over the current solution and was looking for a company with a good track record in this field," says Blakeway. "Scalability was a major requirement due to the envisioned growth at Investec Asset Management, as was a respect for space due to the limited floor space available at the company."
Investec Asset Management opted for the implementation of an HP Server Blade Infrastructure consisting of two-way and four-way processor blade servers for its processing layer. For its storage environment, the company decided on an HP EVA Storage Area Network (SAN) solution with an Overland tape library for its backup and restore requirements.
Says Dave Comben, IT operations manager at Investec Asset Management: "The objective of these projects was to standardise on one infrastructure platform for improved uptime and better performance as well as to centralise system management. The blade server and SAN implementations have been rolled out and we are seeing significant benefits in line with the initial goals.
"Investec Asset Management and Datacentrix have formed a solid partnership over time, an important factor in our decision on IT partner. Not only did Datacentrix put forward the most cost-effective solution, but the company`s strong BEE credentials were also key," he concludes.
