TransUnion recently completed and passed the Microsoft Software Asset Management (SAM) review, enabling the company to better assess its licensing needs and introduce a more efficient licensing management process.
The entire review process was facilitated by outside consultant, Datacentrix, an IT services and solutions provider.
According to TransUnion's Charles le Roux, group technical infrastructure executive, becoming Microsoft compliant was the next major goal for the organisation after receiving Sarbanes-Oxley certification and passing a complete audit of the organisation.
"Being part of a global company means that we need to have strict business values in place. By undertaking a Microsoft software review, we were able to ascertain the number of licences needed within the organisation as well as launch an educational campaign on the importance of proper software registration and use to employees.
"As part of a global company, we were able to leverage an agreement with Microsoft in order to purchase licences needed in the most cost-effective way. As one of our technology partners of choice, we opted to involve Datacentrix in our Microsoft compliance project due to their clear understanding of our business needs and the excellent service delivered by our account managers."
The Microsoft SAM review, which began last year, will become an annual event for TransUnion, enabling it to maintain its compliance certification.
