Datacentrix produces healthy results and gains market share

Johannesburg, 19 Apr 2016

Integrated ICT systems provider, Datacentrix has announced its results for the financial year ended 29 February 2016. Datacentrix performed well and has shown growth across all its operating divisions for the period under review.

Group revenue increased by 16% to R2.6 billion, earnings attributable to shareholders grew by 19% to R123.2 million and headline earnings per share ("HEPS") rose by 18.5% to 62.8 cents, with group operating margin at 6.3%. From a divisional viewpoint, the company's Managed Services and Business Applications divisions contributed 45% and 9% respectively to group earnings, with the Technology Solutions division accounting for 42%.

"Datacentrix is well positioned in the market and has built an enviable reputation for its ability to architect, deploy and maintain cost-effective solutions that add tangible business value," explains Ahmed Mahomed, Datacentrix CEO. "This is achieved by ensuring that all the fundamental business principles are in place and maintained - including an integrated business; quality skills; leading vendor partnerships; seamless integration of all technology disciplines; sound and prudent financial management; resilient operations; strong technical and execution capability; and a commitment to black economic empowerment imperatives.

"The group achieved double-digit growth despite tough economic conditions, an achievement we believe can be directly attributed to Datacentrix' unique positioning within the current marketplace," he says. "We have aligned our capability to optimise our response to changing market conditions, as well as to leverage opportunities in the market and drive efficiencies."

Good growth was achieved within the datacentre, storage, security, networking, outsourcing, human capital supplementation and enterprise information management areas.

"The expertise of our solution consultants sets us apart as a strong contender for multi-faceted system integrations, resulting in meaningful term customer engagements and good revenue growth. In addition, the high level of collaboration across our areas of technical expertise, subject matter experts and technology partners, has further improved service delivery and efficiencies, which is enhancing our ability to address customer needs more effectively."

The group's multi-faceted, multi-brand approach confirms that its strength lies in its diverse, customisable offerings. Datacentrix, with its execution capability, specialised skills, internal and partner collaboration and technology expertise, offers its customers comprehensive business value.

Mahomed adds that: "Our role is no longer one of merely upgrading technology, but of helping businesses to optimise the benefits of the always-on, connected world through the provision of competitively priced, scalable, fit-for-purpose solutions."

As a Pinnacle Holdings Group company, Datacentrix now has further access to an extended solution set, positioning it uniquely among its peers by eliminating the need to source alternative vendors or solutions in non-core areas. This move to becoming a more holistic technology solutions provider makes Datacentrix more cohesive, more reliable and a stronger IT partner.

Mahomed explains that, during the year in review, the group continued to secure revenue in Africa, largely by following customers into the region. "We are however cognisant of the challenges in trading in Africa and have centred our strategy on following existing customers into the continent."

He continues: "The group will continue with its strategy to expand both organically and through acquisitions, and will seek out suitable acquisitions to broaden its reach and to bring new solutions to market.

"In general, we believe that Datacentrix' agility, single-minded, customer-centric approach has built credibility and positioned the group favourably within the market. This was highlighted by the incredible success of our recent Business Showcase event, providing a formal opportunity for us - along with 28 local and international partners - to demonstrate the extent of our portfolio, depth of our relationships, solutions capabilities and our response to the on-going advancement within both business and technology."

The business is supported by top-level vendor accreditations and has garnered a number of vendor accolades during the year.
