Esquire Technologies was recently appointed as a distributor for Elitegroup Computer Systems' (ECS) ranges of motherboards and notebook in southern Africa.
ECS, known as the "king of motherboards" is the world's leading producer of motherboards, with production reaching 24 million units in 2002.
Founded in 1987, ECS is headquartered in Taiwan with operations in North America, Europe and the Pacific Rim. In June 2003, ECS was selected for two years in a row for Business Week Magazine's exclusive Information Technology 100 list (50th place in 2003 and 8th in 2002). ECS expanded its product range into the design and manufacture of the innovative DeskNote, portable desktop computer systems and multimedia products.
Allen Chang, Deputy Manager at ECS, Taipei, comments on Esquire's Appointment: "We were looking for a South African distributor to represent our motherboard and notebook ranges in southern Africa and grow the brand. Esquire's philosophy and small to medium enterprise (SME) target market was a perfect fit.
"At ECS, we've developed cost-effective solutions to meet the need for affordable motherboards and systems that don't compromise quality. We hope to achieve a 30% market share in SA by the end of 2005," says Chang.
Mahomed Cassim, Sales and Marketing Director of Esquire, adds: "ECS has committed itself to the South African marketplace with an aggressive marketing drive, as well as supporting funds. We will roll-out a high profile marketing campaign during the year, which includes advertising, road shows, PR and events to our reseller base and end-users."
