Esquire unveils BenQ printers, branded products at reseller event

Johannesburg, 11 Oct 2005

Esquire Technologies, leading distributor of computer hardware and peripherals, introduced the new range of BenQ printers and Esquire-branded digital lifestyle products at a reseller event at the Constantia Hotel, Midrand recently.

Esquire was recently appointed as a distributor for a large range of BenQ products, including scanners, input devices, digital cameras, MP3s, notebooks, data projectors and media products in SA, as well as the newly launched range of BenQ printers.

The recent addition of products is part of Esquire's dual strategy to balance its offerings to its reseller base by establishing one of the largest ranges of global best-of-breed products, as well as a suite of independent branded products.

BenQ printers

Well known for its digital lifestyle products globally, BenQ recently expanded its product range to include printers, ranging from entry-level desktop units to full multifunctional devices.

The first two BenQ models of printers, part of a comprehensive printer roadmap, include the entry-level BenQ CP-20 Colour Inkjet printer and the CM3000 multifunctional printer.

Jacques Wynbergen, Esquire's National Sales Manager, commented: "With digital sales increasing at a global rate of 60% per annum, and 370 million camera phones expected to sell across the world in 2005, the demand for image technology is on the steep increase.

"BenQ printers are feature-rich and affordable and are targeted at the home, SOHO and SME markets, which are in line with Esquire's target markets. A win for resellers and in turn end-users is that the cartridge replacement is affordable. We're pleased to welcome another quality global brand and look forward to making BenQ printers a leading player."

BenQ's extensive experience of over 20 years in image-related technology comes into play in the printer range with some exclusive features, such as true borderless photo printing, vivid photo enhancements, and the unique twin bubble print head technology.

BenQ CP20

BenQ's CP20 is positioned as the high value printer aimed at the student or home user for general printing purposes, with a focus on photographic printing. Features include A4 format, true borderless photo printing, 4 800dpi high resolution, up to 15 pages per minutes, twin-bubble inkjet technology with mix mode ink.

BenQ CM3000

The three-in-one BenQ CM3000 printer gives users the ability to scan, print and copy images with picture-perfect clarity and sharpness. Designed for ease-of-use, the CM3000 has an array of user-friendly features for intuitive operation. For convenient copying, the CM3000's control panel provides instant access to a number of settings, such as paper size and print quality. The control panel also provides a hotkey for one-step image scanning.

BenQ's exclusive FCC (Faded Colour Compensation) technology enables the CM3000 to restore faded photographs with ease. By pressing the "Magic Photo" hotkey on the control panel, followed by the "Colour Copy" button, users can bring back old memories in living colour. With the unique image management software developed by BenQ, dull images can be instantly transformed into vibrant and dazzling colour prints.

BenQ's exclusive design utilises dual heating elements to create twin bubbles of ink, which enhances the directional precision of the ink as it is projected onto paper during printing. With Twin Bubble Inkjet technology, BenQ printers produce sharper, cleaner images and text, while its enhanced ink drop processing efficiently increases printing speeds.

BenQ's MiraScan technology provides consumers with an intelligent user interface for completing scanning tasks quickly and easily. Using the PreSet Interface, end-users select the scan format and click. Optimised settings are then automatically applied to the scan.

The Esquire brand

Esquire unveiled a range of cost-effective, high-performance LCD monitors, LCD monitors with built-in TV tuners, and MP3 players.

Wynbergen said: "The launch is in line with Esquire's strategy to introduce a range of Esquire-branded IT products during 2004 and 2005, which commenced with the Esquire-branded range of peripherals, such as mice and keyboards. This was followed by the introduction of the Esquire range of desktop PCs, and more recently by the Esquire range of notebooks.

Esquire will supply a full range of high quality LCD monitors including 15-, 17- and 19-inch, and LCD monitors with built-in TV tuners, ranging from 21-, 30- and 32-inch.

Wynbergen added: "As the price of LCD technology reduces and the quality improves, we're finding an increasing demand for this type of product, which not only saves space but is aesthetically pleasing.

"With the convergence and adoption worldwide of digital lifestyle products, as well as the launch of the Media Centre, users both at the office and at home are looking at going the LCD route for their PCs, TVs and entertainment centres.

"A monitor is no longer relegated to an office or a study. It's become part of the lifestyle at home, and for this reason, the LCD monitors are gaining in popularity. Although CRT has dominated the display market for over 100 years, LCD is now expected to make inroads, surpassing CRT and through technology innovations, spread to other applications," said Wynbergen.
