Esquire announces arrival of GeForce 9600GT Graphics Card

Johannesburg, 26 Feb 2008

Computer distributor and digital lifestyle specialist, Esquire Technologies, announced today the availability of the much-anticipated Point Of View, www.pointofview-online.com, NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT GPU card in line with the worldwide launch.

Ever since Point Of View became an official and exclusive NVIDIA launch partner in 2003, it has been a major player in the release of the GeForce FX, GeForce 6, GeForce 7, GeForce 8 and now the GeForce 9 graphics card series.

In 2006, Point Of View released its first pre-overclocked 'EXO Edition' graphics card, offering even more performance. With its products being sold in more than 70 countries worldwide, it's safe to say that Point Of View has become a popular brand among computer users and, of course, gamers.

The GeForce 9600GT has adopted a 65nm process, offers increased processing units and a memory bus width of 256-bits, enabling a much-needed performance boost to the mid-range card offering. The GPU offers Dual Streaming Decode technology, which allows two high-definition image decoding processes to be performed at the same time with the inclusion of picture in picture (PIP) functionality.

The 9600GT offers a better, faster and less power consuming core, which runs at 650MHz while the 256-bit memory bus is powering 512Mb of super-fast DDR3 memory, running at a record-breaking 1 940MHz. Another important enhancement is the shade clock, which runs at a mad speed of 1 625MHz.

With a faster core, shader and memory, the 9600GT will run games, movies and other multimedia smoothly and with higher performance than has been seen in some time.

Mahomed Cassim, Esquire's sales and marketing director, says: "Although only scheduled for worldwide release today, reviews have hit the Internet in waves. According to TweakTown.com's review after testing, the 9600GT gets an overall rating of 88% with the summary: Plenty of stock is on its way and the pricing looks great too. Best of all performance is fantastic! It ticks all the right boxes. All in all, a kickass card."

Users can support faster, clearer playback of high-definition content with the incorporation of NVIDIA PurevideoHD technology. PureVideo uses advanced techniques found only on very high-end consumer players and TVs to make Blu-ray, HD DVD, standard-definition DVD movies, PC and mobile device content look crisp, clear, smooth and vibrant. Regardless of whether the content is being watched on an LCD monitor or a plasma TV, with PureVideo the picture will always be precise, vivid and lifelike.

Also incorporated is support for DirectX 10, which features a highly optimised runtime, power geometry shaders, texture arrays and numerous other features that unlock a whole new world of graphical effects.

Making these effects 'pop' is NVIDIA unified architecture, which is a fully unified shader core that dynamically allocates processing power to geometry, vertex, physics, or pixel shading operations, delivering up to two times the gaming performance of prior generation GPUs.

The card also offers two dual link DVI outputs, supports HD 1080p display and is dual link HDCP capable.

The recommended retail price: R2 999
