Esquire Technologies, the recent winner of the African Distributor of the Year Award at the 'EMEA Channel Academy: 2012 Awards', has announced a distribution agreement with California-based OCZ Technology Group, a dominant company in the manufacturing and distribution of solid state drives (SSD).
Under the terms of the agreement, Esquire Technologies will distribute OCZ's award-winning products to its reseller channels throughout its branches in South Africa - and also see to it that these products are on the Virtual Resellers Network (VRN) Web sites of participating resellers.
The OCZ Technology Group has built a long-standing reputation with its expertise in high-speed memory to become a dominant player in the manufacturing and distribution of SSDs, a disruptive, industry-changing technology that is replacing traditional rotating magnetic hard disk drives (HDDs).
Asgar Mahomed, Managing Director at Esquire Technologies, said: “We are excited to partner with OCZ Technology as the solid state drive market is on a steep growth path, especially over the last few months since the flooding in Thailand, which saw traditional hard disk drive prices skyrocketing.” This, he said, “has given a window of opportunity for clients to start looking at the SSD drives - especially in the value-added resellers (VARs), system builders, SMB and enterprise and gaming markets.
“OCZ has a powerful and focused offering, and we are pleased to take this opportunity to bring these products to our reseller base in South Africa. The OCZ partnership further strengthens our product offerings and helps Esquire, as a distributor of choice, to supply leading solid state technology solutions - especially in our gaming division.”
Mahomed said the company's gaming division has enjoyed stellar results since its launch, with resellers focusing on the gaming enthusiast market, “snapping up all of the stock that came in for the launch in the first few days”.
He said the signing of a distribution agreement with OCZ Technology comes after similar agreements were struck with leading companies such as Razor, Sapphire and Asus.
“The gaming industry is booming and we see this being reflected in the rapid growth of our gaming division - a division we will be focusing on quite aggressively in the coming months,” said Mahomed.
He anticipates rapid and consistent growth in the gaming market, adding that management is very pleased the gaming division - which started from scratch in March last year - is already accounting for 10% of turnover.
