Omega Refrigeration implements Sage ERP X3 Standard Edition

Johannesburg, 13 Mar 2012

Introduction

Omega Refrigeration was in need of an ERP product that could accommodate the financial, distribution and manufacturing needs of the company. Sage ERP X3 Standard Edition provided the perfect solution, with an accelerated implementation process that is coupled with an affordable cost structure, ultimately delivering a much faster return on investment.

Client background information

Omega Refrigeration is a new organisation with extensive knowledge of a unique method of refrigeration and warming of industrial bain marie units to the retail industry and large enterprise. Extensive research and development into water cooling technology, green power usage, wireless technology and a failsafe early warning system ensures its products are manufactured to the highest standards, from its facility in Selby, southern Johannesburg.

Omega Refrigeration offers a total, turnkey service, from order to manufacture through to installation and maintenance.

Events of pre- and post-implementations

Client requirements from the software:

Martin Pengelly, the Sales Executive at Parity Software, spearheaded the implementation at Omega Refrigeration. “The company required a cloud solution for the financial, distribution and manufacturing modules of Sage ERP X3. We started the implementation on 17 October 2011, and the methodology kit allowed us to have the financial and distribution modules up and running at the beginning of December, barely a month-and-a-half later. The manufacturing module was completed and went live on 1 February 2012.”

“We had quite a specific timeline in mind for the implementation of an ERP solution for Omega Refrigeration, and we therefore needed a product that could be deployed quite rapidly,” says Michael Breckle, Managing Director of Omega Refrigeration. “Our existing system was not able to deliver the functional capabilities we required. Sage ERP X3 Standard Edition fully integrated with our financial, distribution, trading, manufacturing, project implementation and unit servicing. It was deployed using our existing staff complement and was finalised within the specified four-month period, which was impressive,” says Breckle.

Sage ERP X3 Standard Edition adheres to best practice, logical business processes and good business rules. “We took great care in training the existing users to ensure they were approximately 95% capable and self-sufficient once Sage ERP X3 Standard Edition went live, and 100% comfortable within a month of the go-live date. User Acceptance Testing (UAT) was also completed to ensure that the system's functions were accepted by its users. Data conversion and take on were meticulously executed to achieve an acceptable accuracy level of 98%,” explains Pengelly.

“The main goals of Sage ERP X3 Standard Edition are to reduce implementation costs and timeframes, ease the learning curve, increase efficiency, provide project visibility and ensure commitments are met by our ERP solution providers,” says Keith Fenner, Vice-President of Sales for Africa, Softline Accpac and Sage MMD Africa.

Sage ERP X3 Standard Edition is aimed at the growing business that requires a cost-effective ERP solution at present. “Sage ERP X3 Standard Edition has nothing removed from it. The full core functionality of Sage ERP X3 is available, but is implemented using only the predefined methodology. It does, however, offer a client the option to expand and enhance their ERP solution as the company grows by simply tapping into the existing features of Sage ERP X3, using minimal IT resources,” says Fenner.

Client benefit and closing comments

Omega Refrigeration describes the entire process as a pleasurable experience. “The implementation process has been relatively short, but we are already starting to reap the benefits that Sage ERP X3 Standard Edition has to offer. We are planning to expand the system during 2012, quite confident that the process will further enhance our needs at Omega Refrigeration,” concludes Breckle.
