Linux Warehouse, the premier distributor of enterprise open source software for sub-Saharan Africa, today announced the appointment of its new General Manager, Russell Gill.

Gill joins the Linux Warehouse family with over 16 years of logistical, operations and management experience. His career started in the IT industry, and he reports that he's excited to not only be returning to the IT industry, but to be joining Linux Warehouse, which he believes is excellently positioned to take advantage of the increased interest in open source technology across the full spectrum of business demand.

Gill's appointment is part of Linux Warehouse's growth programme. This growth programme is in response to the explosion in adoption of enterprise open source software by industry, and allows Linux Warehouse to better serve, and grow, its network of resellers, and to act as a trusted advisor on open source business strategy and advantages to end-users. Linux Warehouse has also been aggressively growing its portfolio offering, eg, recently signed vendors include Zimbra (a groupware e-mail server and Web client), and MongoDB (the leading big data database).

Linux Warehouse would like to thank Shannon Moodley, who has been acting in the dual role of General Manager and Marketing Manager. Gill's appointment frees up Moodley to again focus purely on her passion as Marketing Manager - a role that has massively increased in scope and importance within Linux Warehouse. In the growth programme Moodley and Gill form an integral part of the matrix management team.

Gill is a family man, with wife Nikki and two children, Hallie-Jade and Kean. Apart from work, his interests include golf, hiking, and where possible, reading as well.
