BenQ enters into partnership with PartServe

As part of its commitment to establishing a stronger presence in the South African market, internationally recognised technology giant, BenQ has officially teamed up with local IT services expert, PartServe Channel Support.

BenQ is an acronym for 'Bringing Enjoyment 'N' Quality to Life', and the company is recognised as a global leader in the manufacture and supply of digital networked devices, including digital projectors, LCD monitors, digital cameras and TVs.

Having identified South Africa as the third-largest market for its Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, constituting a total of 20% of regional sales, BenQ officially entered into a partnership in January 2013 with Johannesburg-based PartServe - a specialist in the provision of a comprehensive range of value-added services and support for the local IT services channel.

PartServe Director Lee Bowes says: "PartServe is South Africa's leading IT outsource warranty management company, which has been representing some of the largest brand names in the industry for more than a decade. Through our five branches, PartServe stocks and sells spare parts for all the products the company officially supports, and we are proud to be serving BenQ through the new partnership today and long into the future."

BenQ MEA managing director Manish Bakshi explains that the company selected PartServe as its local partner due to the fact that the company is recognised as the market-leading supplier of warranty repairs for laptops, PCs, monitors, scanners and printers. "PartServe is well known to the South African corporate community as a first-class solution for their IT asset spare parts sales, refurbishment, resale and disposal requirements. This proven track record will ensure BenQ is able to better serve its local customer base through the new partnership."

PartServe specialises in the following five areas of expertise:

Computer and peripheral spare part distribution
PartServe operates from a dedicated 3 500m2 warehouse strategically located off the M1 and N3 highways in Sandton. Strategic branches in Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Bloemfontein service the rest of the country, while investment in inventory exceeds R8 million, with more than 12 000 line items in stock.

Asset recovery and disposal
When a company completes a technology refresh of its IT equipment, there are challenges related to the recovery of the asset value of the old equipment, in addition to sourcing the correct method of disposal. PartServe Channel Support offers 'fixed price buyback' and 'shared revenue sale' solutions to clients, in order to ensure the most effective disposal of equipment.

Outsourced warranty
PartServe operates a unique warranty programme in South Africa. This is an all-encompassing programme that includes a toll-free pre-sale and warranty helpdesk where technical help is offered to customers who are either unable to install their printers or are aiming to achieve maximum efficiency from their products. What's more, PartServe also provides centralised repair and storage facilities, in addition to outsourced regional warranty centre management.

Re-manufacturing of electromechanical assemblies
PartServe has a fully equipped tool room and re-manufacturing facility that supplies an extensive range of 'as new' re-manufactured parts. These products are supplied on an exchange or non-exchange basis and include laser fusing assemblies, mechanical assemblies, dot matrix and other impact printer heads and electronic assemblies, such as logic boards and power supplies.

Outsourced repair
As part of this value-added service, BenQ customers are able to send most of their IT-related or high-tech devices to PartServe, with a targeted repair and return of 48 hours.

Bowes adds: "Our company name is a reflection of our commitment to the southern African IT services channel, which we have been servicing since our establishment in 1999. With this in mind, I am optimistic of the future outlook of the partnership between PartServe and BenQ moving forward."

Looking to the future, Bakshi notes that BenQ's main objectives locally for 2013 are to establish itself as the preferred brand in the region and number one projector brand worldwide, by ensuring its services are easily accessible for end-users, through its new partnership with PartServe. "Our strategy is to select distributors who conduct sales in volumes, in addition to selecting value partners such as PartServe, who will assist us in the niche segments. This will help do justice to the full range of products carried by BenQ," he concludes.
