Powell Tronics stands out at Securex 2016

Cape Town, 20 Jun 2016

Powell Tronics' decision to move the focus away from pure products to a concentration on four distinct vertical market sectors at Securex 2016, has paid dividends for the company. John Powell, CEO of Powell Tronics, says that the strategic design elements of the stand resulted in a pleasing number of qualified leads.

A variety of decision-makers from large corporate companies as well as installers, major utilities and government departments took the opportunity to discuss customised solutions with the Powell Tronics technical and sales specialists. Powell believes that dividing each target market sector - education; business and industry; residential estates; government facilities; and the retail sector - into the four focused corners of the exhibition stand, was a recipe for success for the company. This assisted in ensuring that the specific needs of each visitors to the stand in the respective industry they were enquiring about was met.

The back wall of the stand displayed an integrated solution that included Morpho's Sigma family, including the new Sigma Lite products and Impro's Portal range, standard biometric terminals and Morpho 3D face readers all running on a Portal backbone and incorporating short-range and long-range RFID via Impro and NEDAP products. "The aim of the entire stand was to showcase working solutions, so in addition to the specific products, we also demonstrated the Ethernet capabilities, RS485, S-Bus and GSM connectivity, as well as Wiegand interfaces," says Powell.

There was great interest in Powell Tronics' own ATOM software solutions. Particularly attractive is the functionality and cost effectiveness of the Web-based ATOM time and attendance software, providing users with many of the time and attendance capabilities of much more capital-intensive software. Furthermore, because the software is developed locally, it is highly relevant to the local market and technical backup is readily available.

Another area of visitor attention was the variety of mobile devices that were on display, for visitor management with driver's licence scanning, classroom and examination rollcall and mobile time and attendance products that make-up the Powell Tronics portfolio. Bespoke mobile solutions are a major area of focus for the company, in all sectors.

The company's penetration of the estate security sector is constantly increasing, with an established presence in many of the premier estates throughout southern Africa and it is seen as an attractive growth area for the company. Similarly, the deployment of PT-RollCall for universities and more recently in primary and secondary schools, is progressing at a favourable rate.

To further the company's reach in the major brands it promotes - Impro, Safran Morpho and Golmar - a second, smaller stand was situated in the link node between Securex and A-OSH EXPO and provided visitors with the opportunity to discuss advanced access control solutions over a glass of wine and enter a lucky draw to win stand-alone access control units.

Powell Tronics used Securex as an opportunity to promote team building, with its entire sales and development team constantly interfacing with potential customers and suppliers. "Securex 2016 has once given us an opportunity to expand our customer footprint and based on its unrivalled brand promotion ability, we have already secured our stand space for 2017," Powell concludes.
