Is your provider's 'house in order'?

"UCS Solutions became the first South African company to achieve ISO/IEC 20000 in 2011 - one of only 500 companies that have received this certification globally. UCS Solutions holds this certification in high regard and has subsequently been re-certified in 2016.

Not only has the standard proven to be a differentiator in the market place, it also reflects UCS Solutions' commitment to deliver IT services of the highest quality to its retail clients. The standard ensures that UCS Solutions follows best practice, while simultaneously giving its customers the benefit of a set process in how it interacts with them. The advantage of having ISO/IEC 20000 is that it ensures UCS Solutions' processes are run efficiently and that these processes align to the ISO continuous improvement program.

Admittedly, the road to achieving this milestone was not an easy one and required staff and management's commitment to ensure its ongoing success. The certification process entailed the review of all UCS Solutions' policy documents, including management systems, the planning and implementation of service management, strict service level management, accurate and detailed service reporting, capacity management, budgeting and accounting, service continuity and availability management, configuration management, change management, release management, incident management, problem management, information security management, business relationship management and supplier management.

One of the biggest areas where adhering to the standard has made a difference is in the incident and problem management process. This process, in particular, has shown a tangible improvement in system and process stability. Other significant areas of improvement are in the change management and service management areas. Furthermore, the standard has also meant that UCS Solutions is continuously reviewing its processes and finding ways to improve them. This is no easy task but, with a committed team of experts, UCS Solutions is well-positioned to offer a reliable and consistent service to its clients.
