Zetes' Total Care Portal, a Web-based solution for the administration, maintenance and repair of Auto-ID infrastructure, is set to change the way customer service is delivered in multi-site or multinational projects that involve many mobile workers and significant mobile infrastructure, by making it easy to ensure 100% availability.
Multiple devices used for Auto-ID include mobile computers and printers, data capture devices, wireless networks, vehicle-mounted terminals and industrial label printers. Managing multiple devices effectively and ensuring optimal operation and uptime can be an onerous task, especially when an enterprise has several thousand devices in different locations.
The Zetes Total Care Portal brings optimised life cycle management of an enterprise's total mobile computing and Auto-ID infrastructure, which ensures cost-efficiency, maximised availability of equipment and ease of use to customers.
According to Andrew Fosbrook, Managing Director of Zetes in South Africa (formerly ProScan), the customer services industry relies on optimal availability of all industrial IT infrastructure in all operations to ensure the smooth and cost-effective delivery of services. “The Total Care Portal will enable the customers to manage their IT equipment efficiently while saving on maintenance and repair costs. This flexible online solution, which can be customised to meet customers' specific needs, comprises four modules: asset management, online shopping list, mobile device management and reporting modules.
“The online solution was developed by Zetes to make it easy for customers to focus on their core business while enjoying productivity and cost savings. The Total Care Portal allows businesses to have visibility of the up-to-date location of their devices at any given time, as well as the status of each device in the field or in a repair cycle, and the ability to efficiently update applications or operating systems remotely across the entire installed base,” adds Fosbrook.
The online shopping list module of this online portal is aimed at helping businesses optimise their ordering process of mobile devices and accessories. It has customer predefined bundles of hardware that help protect standards of mobile platforms in terms of service level agreements, configurations and accessories.
According to Fosbrook, businesses will see reduced costs through grouped shipments, as well as 100% protection of their assets, as they will be able to sign and track the status of appropriate maintenance contracts.
“The asset management tool,” says Fosbrook, “helps in ensuring optimal availability in multi-site environments by enabling customers to manage their assets and move products around more flexibly while keeping 100% visibility. It also helps improve contract management. The reporting and mobile device management modules assist in making better decisions and proactively avoiding potential issues that could be costly in terms of productivity.
“With the remote management module, customers will have real-time visibility on the status of their automated identification and mobile assets, which ultimately reduces costs, improves productivity and delivers a far higher return on investments,” explains Fosbrook.
The Total Care Portal has been well received by Zetes' customers across many industries in Europe, and will be available in South Africa at the end of the year.
