In a lawsuit brought by Sun Microsystems, a US federal judge has backed technology claims by Sun and has given Microsoft 90 days to modify its Windows 98 operating system or pull it from the market, reports Reuters.

According to the news service, US District Judge Ronald Whyte in San Jose, California, said Sun is "likely to prevail on the merits" of its lawsuit over the Java programming language and issued a preliminary injunction that would bar Microsoft from selling products that use the technology.
