Top Black ICT Achievers to be named this weekend

This year`s top achievers in the black economic empowerment ICT sector are to be named at the Forge Ahead BMI-T Black ICT Achievers Awards 2001 at Caesars Gauteng this weekend.

The third annual awards ceremony will recognise the cream of SA`s black ICT industry, as well as serving as the launch of the Achievers Handbook 2001, featuring individual and company profiles of the achievers and nominees.

Prizes will be awarded to the top seven individuals in the ICT sector, to recognise proactive contribution to the market positioning of their companies and success in creating wealth for their organisations and employees. The following awards will be presented:

* Overall Black ICT Achiever of the Year
* Most Admired Black ICT Company
* Traditional Company Supporting BEE
* Infopreneur in Africa
* Top Woman in Black ICT
* The Presidential Award for Bridging the Digital Divide
* Students` awards

This year sees the involvement of the Department of Communications as a key sponsor in the awards, allowing for the addition of new awards and bigger prizes for the winners. Other key sponsors are SAP Public Service, Multichoice, Lechabile and Kaya FM. ITWeb is the event`s media partner.
