Arrivia silent on 'frogmarch` report

Johannesburg, 30 Sep 2002

Arivia.kom says it is not yet prepared to comment on media reports that its chief executive, Zeth Malele, ordered the company`s new chief operating officer and executive director on the board to be escorted off the premises.

The Business Times reported yesterday that Malele suspended Mokati Ramphele with immediate effect and had him "frog-marched" off the premises because of "a problem with governance".

The newspaper quotes insiders as saying Malele and Ramphele have differed over leadership styles since Ramphele was appointed as an executive director to the arivia.kom board in June.

The company said today it could not immediately comment on the report, but added that a statement would be issued on the matter shortly.
