T-Systems SA has concluded two deals worth R64 million with DaimlerChrysler SA (DCSA).

In terms of one of the deals, T-Systems will provide the infrastructure and operational support for DCSA`s IT for its Market Performance Centre. The contract is worth R32 million over 36 months.

The other deal, worth R32 million over five years, is an extension of DCSA`s outsourcing contract for desktop services.

The desktop services deal will not only service DCSA, but will involve T-Systems expanding its desktop services to include DaimlerChrysler Services (DCS) and debis Fleet Management (dFM). The contract extension will see the number of desktops under T-Systems` management increase by more than 500.

The objective was to enable DCSA, dFM and DCS to co-ordinate their IT services.

"The deal will allow DCSA to realise synergies and standardise the levels of service throughout the group," says DCSA CIO Dave Burke. "We aim to achieve economies of scale through consolidating desktop services for DCSA, dFM and DCS.

"The joint desktop service approach has financial benefits for the whole DaimlerChrysler group with improved service levels for dFM and DCS."

T-Systems SA service manager Udo Meyzis says this will open additional revenue streams and other strategic deals in the shared services environment.

The company will provide DCSA with a hardware platform and support structure for its Market Performance Centre IT operations. This will accommodate its customer relationship management system, DaimlerChrysler Dealer Management System and Distributed National Inventory projects.

T-Systems IT & Telecom Solutions SA`s client base includes Sanlam, Murray & Roberts, Armscor, Uthingo, Denel and Senwes.

T-Systems, a division of the Deutsche Telekom Group, reported revenue of 11.9 billion euros last year.
