TPB secures SETA payroll deal

Johannesburg, 10 Mar 2004

The People Business - Human Resources Consulting, a member of The People Business (TPB) Group of Companies, has secured the payroll for Project Learning Point, an initiative driven by the Services SETA.

Outlearning (Pty) Ltd and The Portfolio Consulting Group were approached by the Services SETA, to optimise the success of learnership implementation for all stakeholders, by delivering a best practice learnership model, with a proven implementation process and including the Learnership Academy Model, says Kathleen Genade, TPB Group General Manager.

Project Learning Point is a first of its kind project between business and Services SETA. Outlearning (Pty) Ltd has chosen The People Business - Human Resources Consulting as its preferred partner in processing and controlling the payroll and periphery HR administration issues for all the learners entering the 14 selected learnerships across the country, says Genade.

"Winning this tender is a huge accomplishment for The People Business as we beat several large equally well known payroll outsourcing companies to the post. We believe the winning factor for us was definitely the superior level of expertise we offer to all our outsourcing clients, acting more as a consulting HR partner, than a traditional payroll bureau. Our group of companies also has a specialised knowledge of learnerships and, being SETA registered, also understands the positioning of the project as a whole. This is a unique set of skills within the current industry and is certainly being tapped into in this partnership," states Genade.

"We are further excited to be involved in a project of this kind as it is a concerted effort to uplift the skills of previously disadvantaged individuals in South Africa and we are proud to be associated with all ventures of this kind. As a further token of our commitment, as a group of companies, we will be taking on a learner for the next 12 months," explains Genade.

Project Learning Point began rolling out in Gauteng in February and by the end of March, this initiative will see an estimated 1 500 learners in learnerships all over the country.
