The finalists for the African ICT Achievers Awards 2004 have been selected, with interviews due to begin next week, says ForgeAhead MD Jane Mosebi.

"For the first time, the whole process is being conducted online with individuals or companies who have been nominated having been e-mailed a link asking them to submit a two-page CV online. Judges are now wrapping up the process of viewing CVs through a secure connection on the Internet," says Mosebi.

"Each nominee was rated by the judges, following which the auditors, KPMG and Khulisa Incorporated, determined the three finalists in each category. The finalists will now go through an interview process with the judges next week," says Mosebi.

Forty-two nominees have been short-listed for next week`s interviews, which will either be conducted telephonically or in person at ForgeAhead`s offices. This year`s nominees include a number of women and first-time nominees from SA and other African countries.

The awards ceremony, co-hosted by the Department of Communications, will be held on 6 November at the Dome in Johannesburg.

The theme for the 6th annual African ICT Achievers Awards is "African excellence". The event consists of organisation and individual awards, with the overall winners of top company and top individual being chosen from 14 categories. A lifetime achievement award could also be made to a stalwart from one of the various ICT sectors if a suitable candidate is found.
