Business information company Marcus Evans will host a conference on ICT law from 26 to 28 July at the Park Hyatt in Rosebank, Johannesburg.

The conference aims to assist companies to keep abreast of ICT law and how they can implement changes and ensure compliance.

"Participants will also learn to understand and execute the Convergence Bill, address the biggest IT risks a business faces, combat information loss and ensure the protection of ICT intellectual property," says conference project manager Guy Pullen.

The first day covers law, the Internet and technological advancements. Speakers include Francis Cronje, editor of Cyberlaw; Carla Raffinetti, a partner at Edward Nathan; and Thamsanqa Kekana, a legal advisor with the SABC.

Tracy Cohen, a councillor at the Independent Communications Authority of SA, will also present a case study, examining the implications of regulation, and the new regulatory environment.

The second day covers information and intellectual property protection and IT security.

The post-conference half-day workshop, presented by David Oswald of the Forensic Restitution, covers planting evidence, search and seizure of computers, forensic imaging and verification, problems with computer forensics and investigative techniques.
