Mustek appoints non-executive chairman, Vuli Cuba

Mustek Limited is pleased to announce that Vuli Cuba has been appointed as non-executive chairman of the company, effective 25 July 2005.

Cuba will replace CC Kan who retired as non-executive chairman on 31 March 2005.

Cuba was born in 1955 and studied at the University of Fort Hare (1975 - 1978), where he was awarded a BSc in Land Surveying and won the Abe Bailey Trust Award, and at the University of South Africa (1983 - 1986), where he gained a BSc in Information systems and won the Italian Government Academic Performance Scholarship.

He completed his further education at the London Business School in England (1991 - 1993), where he gained a MBA degree and was presented with the Helen Suzman Leadership Award.

In September 1995, Cuba founded Safika holdings (Pty) Ltd, together with economist Moss Ngoasheng, and is currently the CEO of the company.

Cuba`s directorships include Stanlib Limited, Foschini Limited, Hertz Car Rental and Safika Holdings. He is the founder and former president of Enterprise Network of South Africa, the South African affiliate of the Southern African Enterprise Network which is headquartered in Lusaka, Zambia, and which helps entrepreneurs to utilise cross-border business opportunities and have a voice in economic integration.

In addition, he is a member of the Black Management Forum and the Enterprise Investment Forum. He is the founder and honorary chairman of the Swiss-South African Chamber of Commerce.
