The search for the industry`s most outstanding achiever began with an online call for nominations posted on ITWeb.

Out of 110 nominations received from ITWeb readers and members of the Computer Society of SA (CSSA), the judges have short-listed 14 candidates, all of whom have achieved in their careers and contributed to the South African IT industry.

They include IT professionals from various walks of life - from academics, entrepreneurs and CIOs, to managers of government ICT initiatives and local heads of multinational vendors.

Presented by the CSSA in association with ITWeb, Gartner Africa and the Gordon Institute of Business Science, the IT Personality of the Year award recognises an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the growth and development of the South African IT industry over the past year.

The shortlist is open for public voting until Monday, 3 October.

By 6 October, based on criteria and public votes, the judges will select five finalists. The winner of the IT Personality of the Year award will be announced at the CSSA President`s Annual Awards Banquet on Wednesday, 26 October, at the Sandton Sun and Towers hotel.
