The City of Johannesburg will reveal the identity of their new CIO in a few weeks, according to city spokesperson Virgil James.

"An announcement should be made within the next two to three weeks," he tells ITWeb.

Applications for the post officially closed on 23 January, but the City declined to comment on the selection process or disclose the body responsible for selecting the CIO.

The previous CIO (also known as Director of Information Management and Technology), Heather Fuller, resigned in November last year, having completed less than half of her 12-month contract.

Fuller could not be reached for comment.

In the interim, Patrick Mayaba has been acting CIO for the past three months, but will not apply for the post, says James, adding that Mayaba will resume his position as general manager: information management at City Power.
