Free CobiT foundation course, online certification

Johannesburg, 01 Mar 2007

The popularity of the CobiT framework for better managing IT continues to grow. Leading organisations such as IBM are now fully behind the adoption of CobiT and have committed a large number of their resources to be trained in the CobiT framework.

As the global leader in providing CobiT training, Info Sec Africa has introduced the first of a number of free online education opportunities. While it will continue to provide in-house and public seminars, the free online certification and training is aimed at reaching the broadest possible audience across the globe.

Free online training is now available for developing a foundation in CobiT. The objective is to help cultivate a broad-based understanding of the CobiT framework.

Peter Hill, Info Sec Africa's managing director, says many people will be surprised to find out that they do not know the CobiT framework as well as they had thought. Many people make regular use of CobiT but few really understand the usefulness of its components.

While Hill feels individuals will be the biggest beneficiaries of the free online education, he believes organisations will also benefit as they can now easily verify the competence level of staff, contractors and consultants without incurring any additional cost. As we are able to track the progress of individuals, we can also provide training officers with a dedicated CobiT learning management system.

The first certification is at the CobiT Foundation level. Anyone thinking of taking the ISACA Foundation examination will find the free online education to be an easily accessible and useful way to check their preparedness.

More information about the free online education as well as the regular CobiT seminar schedule can be found at www.cobit.co.za.
