The Credit Academy arrives in Cape Town

Cape Town, 06 Sep 2007

The Credit Academy, an established consumer credit trainer with state-of-art facilities in Johannesburg, is hosting three seminars in Cape Town.

The Mother City debut launches two new seminars and a sought-after seminar that has sold out at The Credit Academy in Johannesburg.

The three seminars: Introduction to Scoring; Maintaining Account Volumes Post NCA; and Affordability Best Practices have been selected from over 15 titles available in the Credit Academy's repertoire.

These seminars focus on addressing current industry conditions, utilise practical case studies and exercises and are conducted by leading experts in the credit management arena.

Maintaining Account Volumes Post NCA is a brand new seminar developed specifically to support credit risk professionals in response to the changed credit environment, after the implementation of the South African National Credit Act (NCA), which has brought pressure to bear on levels of credit volumes.

Managing the trade-off between risk and reward has never been more important for South African consumer credit lenders. Following the NCA's 1 June 2007 implementation, every registered lender across the country has made dramatic changes to their credit underwriting and scoring policies.

These changes have impacted volumes, and to optimise the management of this new credit environment, specialised updated knowledge is necessary on subjects such as:

* Improving acceptance rates and eligible prospect populations by pricing for risk; and

* Developing the tools to deliver risk-based pricing such as product-level profitability models, rigorous champion/challenger capability and a robust monitoring programme in organisations.

The seminar, Affordability Best Practices, seeks to improve credit decisions by providing insight into critical credit risk concerns, such as enhancing affordability modelling in scoring. Also two methods, Affordability Modelling and Predictive Statistical Models are compared using practical examples.

The Introduction to Scoring seminar provides delegates with an introductory understanding of the concepts and practical uses of scoring in the highly-competitive consumer credit industry. It ensures delegates return to their work environments with a clear understanding of the concepts and practical implications of best practice applications of credit scoring.

Maintaining Account Volumes Post NCA will run on 8 October in Cape Town; Introduction to Scoring on 23 October; and Affordability Best Practices on 15 October.
