Saratoga wins at DTI Awards

Johannesburg, 08 Nov 2007

Saratoga Software has confirmed its reputation as a leading South African mobile software innovator by receiving the runners up prize in 2007 SPII Award for Large Companies, for its Shine Initiative project.

The award was presented by the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Rob Davies, at the 2007 DTI Technology Awards, held in Port Elizabeth.

Shine was a DTI-sponsored project to facilitate service delivery by creating a field worker productivity suite for local government and utilities.

"Saratoga is extremely proud of this achievement and plans to build on this success by engaging with the DTI in future projects," says Anthony Robinson, Saratoga Software's CEO.

Municipalities play a crucial role in service delivery in the South African society and need to use mobile technology to accelerate service delivery and help reduce crippling service backlogs.

Shine was developed to streamline business processes, increase efficiency and reduce costs through the use of mobile technology and wireless devices. Shine has created a mobile solution for work order management, inventory management, meter management, meter reading, CRM, surveys, GPS mapping and intelligent reporting.

"Shine's biggest achievement is that it has the capacity of improving the lives of all South Africans, especially the poor, by increasing the pace and efficiency of local government service delivery," according to JB Maree, Saratoga's Business Development director.

Saratoga Software is a black owned company and part of the Sekunjalo Investments Group, with a vision of becoming a leading global software and services business. It provides innovative software solutions for insurance administration, healthcare, local municipalities, mobile technology and human resource management.
