Bolton Wanderers boosts system

Bolton Wanderers has upgraded to a Web-based e-mail management system to halve administration time, ensure business continuity, and improve security, reports ComputerWeekly.

"Since moving to the Web-based service from Mimecast, viruses and spam are blocked at source and, therefore, do not waste valuable disk space and bandwidth," said Dave Atkinson, IT manager for Bolton Wanderers.

The move to the software-as-a-service model is part of an upgrade of the club`s local area network to an IP-centric environment.

SteelEye expands protection

Oracle Enterprise Linux joins Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and Asianux as supported Linux operating platforms for SteelEye LifeKeeper and SteelEye Data Replication, reports NewsObserver.

SteelEye Data Replication for Linux leverages open source features contributed by SteelEye into the 2.6 Linux kernel to provide host-based volume replication and continuous data protection.

A built-in Data Recovery Wizard provides simple restoration of critical data to any point in time. Support for multiple simultaneous targets that can span any combination of wide and local area connections provides optimal data protection.

Ixilix focuses on demand

Ixilix has completed its transition to a standalone business unit dedicated to serving the hosting, business continuity, and disaster recovery needs of the Mid-Atlantic marketplace, reports EarthTimes.

The company has seen a significant increase in demand for these services, leading it to reorganise to better address marketplace requirements.

"Our Ixilix operations have consistently delivered extremely high service levels and have passed rigorous testing, including our SAS 70 Type II certification announced earlier this year," said Rick Hirsh, CEO.
