M-Net CEO Glen Marques has been promoted to CEO of Mediazone, a company within the Naspers group.

The dual-listed media conglomerate said this morning Marques - who has been M-Net CEO since 2007 - will move to the California-based company to drive the development of broadband video content services internationally.

Patricia Scholtemeyer, Media24's magazine division CEO, will take over the reins from Marques at M-Net, says Naspers.

Scholtemeyer has been with the group since 1999, initially as a publisher and subsequently as CEO of Media24's magazine division.

Naspers acting CEO Cobus Stofberg says the company is "fortunate to have a wealth of talent" within the group to draw on for new agendas.

"The line between traditional and new media is fast blurring as consumers search for content anywhere, anytime and on any device. There are many opportunities for the further development of our rich online media efforts. As a group, we continue to develop both our local and international operations using the best talent available."
